Sleeping well should not be a luxury.

Illustratie van een berenfamilie die hun kleintje onderstopt

Slaapluxe grew out of a simple idea: sleeping well should not be a luxury you allow yourself once every ten years. You spend a third of your life in bed. That deserves bedding that feels soft, that breathes, and that still looks good after fifty washes.

That is why we list the manufacturer's details on every product page, such as the composition and the washing instructions. That way you choose by what something is, not by what a photo promises.

From Haarlem, with Dutch stock

Slaapluxe is a small web shop from Haarlem. We work with a regular partner in the Netherlands that has devoted itself entirely to bedding. That means our items are in stock in the Netherlands, instead of spending weeks in transit from abroad.

Order on a working day before 10 pm and your parcel is usually at your door within 1 to 2 working days. DHL delivers in the Netherlands, and as soon as your parcel is on its way we send you an email, usually with a tracking code. From € 90 we ship free within the Netherlands. Everything about shipping and returns is on the page Shipping and returns.

Our materials

What a fabric does for your sleep comes down to the weave. Below we explain what you can expect from each material.

Cotton

Cotton is a natural fibre that breathes. It takes up moisture and releases it again, so you are less likely to wake up clammy at night. It feels dry and airy and is sturdy enough to wash for years. That makes our cotton duvet covers and fitted sheets the level-headed choice: comfortable, easy to care for and pleasant all year round.

Cotton sateen

Sateen is not a material but a weaving technique. By weaving the yarn differently, cotton gets a smooth, lightly shining surface: the hotel feeling. Our cotton sateen is 100% cotton and so breathes just like ordinary cotton. It feels soft and smooth.

Percale

Percale is a dense, tightly woven cotton with a fresh, dry feel. It feels cool, which makes it pleasant in summer and for anyone who runs warm.

Microfibre

Microfibre is a very fine polyester fibre. It feels soft and smooth, is light in weight and dries quickly, and so needs little maintenance. Where known, the weight of the fabric is listed in the specifications.

Flannel

Flannel is cotton with a lightly brushed surface. That holds the warmth and feels soft and warm, especially in the colder months. Our flannel is mostly cotton, sometimes blended with polyester.

Velvet and teddy

Velvet and teddy are soft fabrics, mostly of polyester: velvet with a smooth, velvety surface, teddy with a fluffy, cuddly side. They are heavier than microfibre, the fabric weighs about 200 grams per m², and so feel warm and cosy.

Muslin

Muslin is airily woven cotton with a natural, slightly crumpled look. It breathes well and feels soft and light.

Jersey

Jersey is knitted cotton that stretches. That is why it is mostly used for fitted sheets: it fits smoothly around the mattress and stays in place.

Pillows

With a pillow, the cover and the filling are two different things. Which filling and which fill weight a pillow has is listed in the specifications, where known. That way you compare on what is inside and not only on the name.

Quality that lasts you years

The most sustainable bedding is the bedding you do not have to replace. That is why we tell you honestly, for every item, what is in it and how to wash it, so you keep it looking good for as long as possible.

Most items are washable at 40 °C and suitable for the tumble dryer, but not all of them: some duvets, pillows, throws and duvet covers are not suitable for the dryer. What applies to your item is listed under Washing and care on the product page, and the care label in the product always takes precedence. If you take good care of your bedding, it simply lasts longer. That is better for your wallet and saves a lot of textile.

More than a bed

From every order, 5% of the revenue goes to Stichting Hart voor Afrika. They work with local partners on projects that can be completed: a water well, food parcels, a plot of land where a community can carry on by itself. In this way every night in our bedding contributes a little, without you having to do anything extra.
